Tuesday, April 1

After a walk this morning, we had a great breakfast.  Later, I read two fine things.  The first was by Tracy Letts, author of the Tony-winning “August: Osage County.”  He wrote about his play, “I was committed to finish the work.”  Not to write a great play, or even just to do some good writing, no, it was about finishing it.  The second is from a meditation by Henri J.M. Nouwen for today: “Jesus calls us to gratitude…to be grateful for every moment that we have lived.”  The good moment and the bad.  I am grateful and I am committing myself to finish my current project, a sequel to “The First Emperor.”  Nouwen wrote “Gracious God, please help me turn my mourning into dancing.”
