What's New at St Stephen's?

WELCOME THE REV. DOROTHELLA LITTLEPAGE ON JULY 10
Sunday, July 10 we welcome the Rev. Dorothella Littlepage as our new Urban Assistant.  Rev. D will preach at 8:00 and 10:00 and hang out at the Community Cookout to get to know all of you.  Please come show her a warm St. Stephen’s welcome.

SUMMER COMMUNITY COOKOUTS

Mark your calendars now for our summer Community Cookouts—July 10, August 14, and September 11.  These Sundays offer us great opportunities to invite friends and neighbors to church, and show them a little St. Stephen’s hospitality.  Neil and Harry manage the grilling of the main course and the rest of us provide salads, sides and desserts.  Please sign up and tell us what you want to bring on July 10 when we welcome Rev. Dorothella.  August 14 we will say goodbye to our intern Charlie Knuth and September 11 we will celebrate community and diversity as we remember 9/11.

HOST LEMONADE ON THE LAWN
Sundays in the summer, we enjoy Lemonade on the Lawn after 10:00 worship.  Please let Irene Axelrod and Margie Messina know what week you want to host.  We supply lemonade mix and put the tables out.  We ask you to provide healthy and appealing munchies, set up before the end of worship, and clean up at the end of the morning.  You can also provide your own drinks if you prefer.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES FOR MID-WEEK STUDY AND PRAYER

Spiritual Practice Group.  Join us for an hour of silent meditation and conversation about prayer on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month at 9:30 am in Cheater Room.  All are welcome on July 6 & 20 and August 3 & 17.

Healing and the Book of Common Prayer.  Beginning Wednesday, July 20 Althea Smith Smith will lead a group exploring the ways in which the prayer book can support and strengthen us in our own personal work of healing, and in our healing ministries in the church and the community.  The group will gather in the late afternoon on Wednesdays.  Please speak with Althea if you are interested so that she can choose the best possible start time.

Thursday Noon Healing Service.  Join us for a time of prayers for healing, conversation about scripture, and Eucharist.

Tea and Talk about Faith.  Thursday afternoons at 1:00 the clergy gather a group to read a short passage and reflect on what it means for how we live day-to-day as Christians.

ADULT CONFIRMATION PREPARATION
This Spring several adults approached the clergy about preparing for Confirmation or Reception in the Episcopal Church.  It was clear that we did not have time to prepare the adults in time for the May 21st Deanery Confirmation.  Our hope is to present adult candidates for Confirmation at the Cathedral in Boston in October.  If you would like to be confirmed or received in the Episcopal Church, please speak with Rev. Jane by July 10 and we will plan a meeting schedule that works for the participants.

HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?
The Bishop Bud Community Gardens have been planted and need your help to flourish.  We need adult helpers at 12:30 every afternoon at 12:30 to help KIC Campers tend the garden.  We need weekend and August weeders and waterers.  And, if God is good and our care faithful, we will bring forth an abundant harvest to share with Bishop Bud and our community.  Please let Charlie know how and when you can help.
