EASTER THANK YOUS! It takes many devoted people to move the church from Palm Sunday to Easter. Thank you to all who cleaned, polished, decorated, folded, stuffed, sang, acolyted, read, served, ushered, prayed, counted, and attended all our Holy Week liturgies. Without you, there would be no Alleluias! Thank you!

CELEBRATE THE BIRTHDAY OF THE CHURCH ON PENTECOST MAY 27. Fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit! On Pentecost, we hear stories of rushing winds, flames of fire, Gospel preaching in all languages, and many people coming to believe in the Lord Jesus. God sent the Spirit to inspire and encourage us as witnesses to the resurrection.
- Celebrate new Christians through baptism
- Enjoy the wonderful diversity of St. Stephen’s as we worship in English & Kiswahili
- Wear RED in celebration of the Holy Spirit
- Offer the peace in a multitude of languages (let the clergy know what language you bring)
- Sing Happy Birthday to the Church and enjoy birthday cake
NEXT BAPTISM MAY 27. If you or someone you know would like to be baptized on Pentecost, please talk with the clergy and complete a baptism registration form. Our Baptism Preparation Class for parents and Godparents will be on Tuesday, May 22 at 6:00. After Pentecost, our next baptismal day will be Sunday, September 23 when the Rev. Joe Pennington joins us for Homecoming.
MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVANCE MAY 27. Join us on Sunday, May 27 as we remember those service men and women who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces. Our 10:00am worship will conclude in the Garth with a special tribute to Lt. Col. Charles Redington Mudge who died at the Battle of Gettysburg. Please check the list posted in the Galahad Area to make sure it includes all those who died while serving in the military. On Veterans’ Day Sunday on November 11, we will remember and give thanks for all veterans.
NOT YOUR USUAL BIBLE STUDY. Join us for a DIFFERENT Bible Study Group where we come to pray, laugh, and sometimes cry a bit together through scripture. We read the stories and experience how they come ALIVE in the stories of our lives. So, no matter, if you’re a “talker”, “listener” or somewhere in between, please join us. Join Debbie Potter on Mondays evenings at 6:30 at the Church or Victoria Kozicz on Tuesdays afternoons at 2:00 at St. Stephen’s Towers.
SOUL FOOD SUCCESS. While we don’t have a final count for the 10th Annual Soul Food Celebration, we know it was a fabulous success. The ad book, thanks to event coordinator Debbie Potter, Liz Fortes and Carolyn Hoy, was bigger and better than ever. The worship with the inspiring preaching of the Rev. Canon Ed Rodman, the amazing singing of Micah Fellows Hazel Johnson & Amy Jones, the fabulous sax of Rev. D, and the “surprising” arrival of Esmerelda transformed Low Sunday into Celebration Sunday. At the dinner, we enjoyed soul sounds from DJ Tim Potter, cheered poetry from Oasis teens Marcus and Miguel, checked out the Bishop Barbara Justice and Courage portraits, and delighted in the singing of Chubby Booth as well as Hazel and Amy. Our keynote speaker Horace Small challenged us to make a difference insisting that change in our world happens one person at a time. And the food, the food—let’s just say we enjoyed our Easter Feast! Many thanks to Debbie and her whole team for a fun fundraiser.
FEED YOUR SPIRIT ACROSS THE NORTH SHORE. Grace Church Salem invites us to Evensong on Wednesday, May 2 at 5:00. Our own Elizabeth Trahan is in the choir. The Rev. Patrick Gray and Christ Church Hamilton invite us to an Ascension Day Celebration on May 17 at 7:30. The preacher will be your very own Rector so come join the Deanery in worship.
