Open to all children from infants through high school
At St. Stephen’s we are dedicated to creating a nurturing and hospitable environment where children and youth develop in mind and body, heart and spirit. We provide weekly opportunities for Christian formation through our Church School program, which runs from September to June. Our classes cover pre-school through 12th grade and begin at 10 a.m. We also offer a Confirmation class. After class, students join their families during the Passing of the Peace and stay with them throughout Holy Eucharist. Classes are taught by committed members of our congregation. “Sunday Papers” (coloring sheets with Bible stories) and crayons are provided every week at the back of the sanctuary as well.
We are currently using Weaving God’s Promises, a three-year Episcopal curriculum, for pre-school to 1st grade and 2nd to 5th grade classes. We use Teen Text, for middle-school and High School Classes.
We provide infant and toddler care (through 2 yrs old) from 9:45 a.m. until the conclusion of the 10:00 a.m. service. Please bring your child’s provisions clearly marked. Please talk to Kendra Zimiroski, the Nursey Teacher, if you have any questions.
Confirmation is the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop. Book of Common Prayer Catechism page 860.
This class is for anyone in 8th grade through 12th grade who has been baptized and is now interested in the rite of confirmation. The class meets during the 10:00 a.m. service on Sunday and on Wednesday evenings during Lent.
The group will compare Baptism and Confirmation, and will explore the history and structure of the Episcopal Church, as well as the Bible, spirituality, worship and God’s call to each person.
