YOUTH MINISTRIES READY TO ROLL WITH KIC THIS SUMMER
Summer is not down time at St. Stephen’s!  In July, we welcome over 100 children for Kids in Community.  1st-5th grade campers join 18 teen mentors, KIC staff and parish volunteers in modeling and shaping healthy community, learning new skills, playing games, and embarking on great field trips.  Adult Meal servers (for breakfast and lunch) and chaperones would be enthusiastically welcomed into this community.  Please contact KIC Directors Charlie Knuth, Stephanie Collins and Heather Murphy at the church if you can volunteer time, talent, or treasure.
KIDS IN COMMUNITY FILLING UP FAST
If you know a child in grades 1-5 who needs a fun, safe place to spend July, sign them up for Kids in Community.  Our theme is “Healthy Me! Healthy Community!” as we encourage positive life choices for our young people.  Registration is open for our free, four-week summer camp that features poetry, art, music, zumba, and amazing games.  Every Thursday is field trip day when we will go to the Boston Aquarium, the Science Museum, the Stone Zoo, and the Boston Children’s Museum.  We always have a waiting list by so register now.  KIC runs Monday-Friday, 8:30-2:00, July 5-29.
OPERATION: OASIS MISSION TRIP” IS A GO
August 7-12, sixteen St. Stephen’s teens and four adult mentors will go on a mission trip to New York City.  They will be work with a Quaker direct service project focused on homeless people.  Our teens, all of whom receive so much from this community, desire the opportunity to give to another community, and are hard at work raising funds for travel expenses.
On June 18th  (after a week of tireless effort), senior leaders and new Oasis members alike hosted a talent extravaganza featuring 21 hip-hop, dance, rock, spoken word, and vocal acts.  They welcomed over 100 people into Lawrence Hall and raised $700 for the mission trip.  They would like to thank all of the adults who supported them, with their time and treasure, including the Kiswahili Congregation, who allowed them to use their sound system.
You can support the teens by buying and selling Red Sox Raffle tickets for two box seats to the August 2nd game vs. Cleveland.  Tickets are $2 a piece or $10 for six.  If you would like to buy or help sell tickets, please talk to the teens! All teens are welcome in Oasis.  As you can see, summer is a great time to get involved!
