Christ-Like Hospitality to Children & Youth

CHURCH SCHOOL TEACHERS’ MEETING AND PARTY

Church school teachers will meet after church on Sunday February 12th for a planning meeting.  The following Sunday, February 19th, it’s time to party!  Come to the Christmas Party Potluck and Yankee Swap (no mugs!) at the Breckenridges.

OASIS: BUILDING UP MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT

In January, the teens had a fun filled overnight themed “Check Your Game,” which used video games as a metaphor for examining their lives…and then played video games all night.  Additionally, they had the first in a series of workshops focusing on healthy eating.  In February, following the Senior High Retreat at the Camp February 3-5, OASIS will focus on healthy relationships with self and others.  Join us February 10 and 24.

What does it mean to offer Christ-like Hospitality to all?

It means to love one another as Christ loves us.

Click here to see a great video of what it means to love as Christ loves!

OASIS YOUTH GROUP FOR FUN, FELLOWSHIP, FORMATION, AND SERVICE.  The teens of Oasis are hard at work for CPPK, but good times await hard working teens!  Get ready for:

·         An overnight adventure at the Church

·        “Can You Hear Me Now?” evening of self-expression

·         Diocesan Senior High Retreat

Stay tuned for other upcoming teen events!

DIOCESAN SENIOR HIGH RETREAT FEBRUARY 3-5.  Mark your calendar now! All youth in grades 9-12 are invited to attend the Senior High Retreat at the Barbara Harris Camp on February 3-5.  The cost per teen is $105.  Scholarships are available but family/teen contributions are expected.  Priority will be given to those teens active in Oasis and the Spot, and those who sign up early.  The deadline for all registration materials including parental signatures and family/teen contributions is January 13, but the sooner you sign up the better!

Christ-Like Hospitality to Young Adults

Come one, come all young adults to St. Stephen's on Wednesday nights at 5pm for food and talk of faith.  Maybe you came to OASIS every week in high school, or maybe you've never come to St Stephen's before. Whether you are old hand or a new friend, you are most welcome!  During Epiphany, we'll read Jesus Was An Episcopalian and talk about how the traditions of St Stephen's have been shaped by the history of the Church. Plus, we'll be experimenting with new recipes as Intern Andrew Phillips tries out a new cookbook. Contact Andrew at aphillips@ststephenslynn.org or 919.259.4681.

COLLEGE AGE YOUNG ADULTS GATHER ON WEDNESDAY WITH ANDREW

While high school graduation may bring an end to regular participation in acolyting, the Spot and Oasis, there is life for young adults at St. Stephen’s.  Diocesan intern Andrew Phillips meets on Wednesday evenings with college-age young adults and is doing one-to ones with young adults at St. Stephen’s, at North Shore Community College, and in the community.  His question: what do young adults want and need from the church and how might St. Stephen’s respond to those needs.  If you are or know a twenty-something, call Andrew and join the conversation.
